Oatmeal cookies and ice cream

As dessert at Amanda and Josiah, Waverly gets oatmeal cookies and ice cream. Waverly has never had ice cream because there isn't any cows on the spaceship she comes from.

Oatmeal cookies:
1/3 cup butter
1 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup and 2 Tbs sugar
1 egg
1 Tbs all-purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking powder

Melt the butter and mix in the rest of the ingredients.
Put the dough on baking sheets with a teaspoon. There has to be a lot of space between them because they spreads a lot while in the oven.
Bake the cookies in a preheated oven at 356 Fahrenheit for 10 minuets. Cool the cookies on a wire rack.

Ice cream:
2 Tbs sugar
16 fl oz milk
3 oz sugar
3 egg yokes

Bring cream and vanilla to boiling point. Add sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved. Whisk together the egg yokes and whisk in the milk mixture. Put the cream in a freezer-proof box and put it in the freezer for 3-4 hours or until set.

Claire's lavender bread

Sydney is a bit confessed about how much Claire and Bay have been doing in a couple of houres but in fact she has been sleeping for 26 hours. Bay and Claire are crystallising pansies. Claire offers Sydney coffee and lavender bread.
The lavender bread is one of their grandmothers recipes.
I found the recipe for the bread on Sarah Addison Allens fan site.

Ingredients:
3/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons finely chopped culinary lavender
6 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Chop the lavender fin.
Combine the milk and lavender in a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat to a simmer, then remove from heat, and allow to cool slightly.
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg until the mixture is light and fluffy. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the milk and lavender until just blended. Pour into the prepared pan.
Bake for 50 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a wooden pick inserted into the crown of the loaf comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack.
